The desiguALdades.net Research Cluster 3: Global Valorization of Nature at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (IAI) is currently studying (together with the Deutsches Institute für Entwicklungsforschung, DIE) the transformations in nature-society relations from the perspective of how the valorization of nature is reconfiguring multiple social inequalities in various contexts in Latin America. In the second phase of the research network, a synthesis publication titled ‘Global Valorization of Nature, Inequalities and Limits of Redistribution’ is being carried out. My research in the synthesis effort focuses on the valorization process from the perspective of material dimensions of nature and their reconfiguration of various social relations, including the labor process and production, social conflicts, and the changing role of the state. This work builds upon previous research on molecular biotechnologies and the relationship between production and reproduction in the history of agriculture.
